Alison Manning
Background
I am a registered psychologist and qualified coach with an emphasis on being real and engaged, while bringing evidence based therapeutic approaches to help my clients' varied concerns.
I provide services to adults who are self-referred, referred by a GP, or referred through WorkCover, CTP, the Lifetime Care and Support scheme, and NDIS. I use Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Schema Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
My interest in psychology evolved from my previous work as a mediator, where I had extensive experience working in family, workplace and commercial conflict management.
In addition to face to face psychology work in Dubbo I do therapeutic and coaching work with people online, using video or phone. Since the pandemic, telehealth is now available to people anywhere in Australia who are referred by their GP, and have a Mental Health Care Plan - the rebate is the same for telehealth as for in person consults.
I have completed a Master of Clinical Psychology. Early on I studied English while completing a Communication degree. This led me to work with ABC Radio, and eventually to establish my online practice, A Mind of One's Own (www.amindofonesown.com), where I work with fiction-writers.
As you can see from my photo, I'm not straight out of uni, and clients often tell me how appreciative and relieved they are to find someone who has perspective that can come with age and life experience.
