Alison Manning
Background
I have studied Psychology over many years and am currently studying for a Master of Clinical Psychology. I hold registration with the Australian Health Practioners Registration Agency (AHPRA).
I provide psychological services to self-referred clients, to those referred by a GP, and also people referred through WorkCover, CTP, the Lifetime Care and Support scheme, and NDIS. I use Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Schema Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
My interest in psychology evolved from my previous work as a mediator, where I had extensive experience working in family, workplace and commercial conflict management.
In addition to face to face psychology work in Dubbo I work with people online, using video or phone. Since the pandemic, telehealth is now available to people anywhere in Australia - the rebate is the same for telehealth as for in person consults.
Early on I studied English while completing a Communication degree. This led me to establish my online practice, A Mind of One's Own (www.amindofonesown.com), where I work with fiction-writers.
As you can see from my photo, I'm not straight out of uni, and clients often tell me how appreciative and relieved they are to find someone who has perspective that can come with age and life experience.
